The crazy cookbook lady

I've got a confession to make: I own 43 cookbooks.

That's right, FORTY-THREE. And I'm a single girl in my very early 20's who lives at home with the parents. That's why my cookbooks live on a little shelf at the end of my bed:

Don't hate, I'm allowed to like the Justice League ok!
I had a birthday recently, but I was still slightly surprised when my brother asked me: "what cookbook do you want for your birthday?" - he didn't say "what do you want..." or anything like that. He knows me well,  I really wanted the Blackbird Bakery cookbook. Check it out, no library markings, it's mine... all mine! *evil laugh*:

Today, I had a scary premonition that one day I'll become "that crazy cookbook lady" with a house full of ceiling high shelves that are serious earthquake hazards even when screwed to the wall.

It was a disturbing thought, but after dwelling on it for half a day I realised that I don't care. I like cookbooks, thankyouverymuch.

Wanna see my collection?
Some of those "Dr Gluten" books don't count, because they're informational and don't contain recipes. Phew!
I'm collecting gluten-free cookbooks...
Heck, I'm collecting anything cookbooks! See that brown one? It's Nigella Lawson's latest: Kitchen. (amazing, by the way)
No, I didn't steal these from the library and I don't put Dewey numbers on my own books. I just love library sales. Sue me.
So what's the point of all this? I've decided to take the next 43 weeks to cook my way through these books. One recipe from each book a week.

Confession #2:
These are some of the cookbooks I've currently got on loan from the library:
*ahem* I returned heaps of books to the library this morning... and still had this huge stack! How lame am I?!

So, how many cookbooks do you own? Please say this isn't just me... being weird and stuff.

I'm a collector too. Grandma got rid of hers, I split it with my sister, I've been collecting for about 24 years… I can't stop, I try to buy used and save a $. Gluten Free Gourmet series by Bette Hagman is my favourite.

I counted over 80, and that doesn't include the ones that are presently MIA in a box (I hope!) I have a photo, not sure where to post it, but I'll see if I can't email it for your amusement.

Marlow: Yes! It's awesome! I counted, and there are about 43 weeks to Christmas(!), so it'll probably be awhile until I look at that cookbook! :P The cover is just to bright and pretty, I love it.

Monica: Wow, that's lots of cookbooks! You can email me a photo if you like, gisforgluten(at)gmail(dot)com, and I'll post it on the blog. :)
Bette Hagman is so good isn't she? I've got a few of hers... haha, Carol Fenster is also one of my favs.

Thanks for the comments :)

i've got 20! which given they are all really thick, takes up quite a bit of space on the shelves... the only way i justify that quantity is by reviewing them on my blog! and making sure i use them pretty frequently... although granted some i just own because they have pretty pictures :)
